I Am the True Vine

Christian Wallpaper
A cluster of fresh, colorful purple grapes resting on top of the vine between two arms with the quote: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. I am the vine, you are the branches.”—John 15:1-2,5 (NABRE)

Full Passage of the True Vine

I shortened the quote in the wallpaper for space reasons, but the complete verses (1 through 5) deliver the full richness of the message:

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.—John 15:1-5 (NABRE)

Parable of the Talents

I am reminded of the Parable of the Talents because it also calls to mind an important choice we have to make: given our unique abilities, do we rise to the challenge of making full use of them to bear fruit for the kingdom?

I invite you to check out my infographic and reflection on the Parable of the Talents.
